Capturing the Marrow of Life

Updated: May 8, 2020

“Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people.”

- Eleanor Roosevelt

I typically like taking random pictures. What captivated me in this photo is the child, listening intently in silence while the men were conversing. Don’t be misled with his quietness, his mind is like a sponge, absorbing everything. In his quietude, he is observing.

I remember specifically my husband’s story when he was young. He witnessed someone who needed help but that person who was with him, didn’t extend any assistance. In his young mind, he already have questions “why wouldn’t that person act to help” and led him to question our existence; “why are we here?”

If we want future generations who cares, who has compassion, we need to sow seeds we wanna see. If we want generations of unified communities, we have to show kindness. If we want to see optimism, we have to be an encourager. If we want our children to have empathy to animals and our environment, we have to show them how. We need to lead our children by example. They are wise. So we have to walk our talk and not send confusing signals.

We are the nurturer of the future. We need to cultivate them while they’re still young, so when they become older, it’s already innate in them. The goodness of their souls just flow naturally. It’s never too late if we act now.
